The Zoo in Fort Worth, TX

The Fort Worth Zoo is an innovative zoo in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. It is among the eight natural zoos in North America and is one of the fourteen natural zoos accredited by the American Zoo Association. Built on an artificial island, the zoo features numerous exhibits.

A collection of nearly three thousand species of birds, two hundred mammals, and one thousand reptiles are represented in the Fort Worth Zoo. This city's other notable zoos are the zoo in Springdale and the zoo in Plano.

The zoo has four major attractions that have drawn visitors both young and old. A number of exotic animals are included in the Fort Worth Zoo's range of attractions and among its species are the Great Barrier Reef, the B-12 Zoo, and the George Bushnell Museum & Gardens. One of the most fascinating aspects about visiting the Fort Worth Zoo are the many habitats that it has to offer. The zoo has seven different habitats that provide visitors with the opportunity to see the different creatures that call the Fort Worth Zoo home. These include the Woodland Park habitat, the Bearcreek habitat, the Miltonetta habitat, the Big Tex habitat, the Performing World habitat, and the Steel Jungle habitat.

Among the animals featured in the Fort Worth zoos are a number of marsupials that include hares, gerbils, gazelles, voles, mice, rats, and voles. The animals are provided with a comfortable home including houses, trees, bridges, and play areas where they can exercise, run around, and climb. Some of these animals are featured in the zoo's aquatic exhibits where they are able to swim, dive, and take part in various activities. In addition, the Fort Worth zoos feature a wide variety of bird species including blue jays, grackles, storks, red-winged blackbirds, and woodpeckers.

At the George Bushnell Museum & Gardens, guests will find an amazing array of different animals from around the world. These animals include the Royal Bengal Tigers, African Grey Parrots, Royal Balvenues, and Sea Horses. These animals are featured in a number of different habitats where they can be viewed on a number of levels. The zoo offers a special aquarium where guests can learn about various species, view a live specimen, or even feed fish.

In addition to the zoos, there are a variety of other attractions in Fort Worth. These include the zoo's Fort Apache Children's Zoo, the Dallas Animal Museum, the Dallas Children's Theatre, and the Aquarium at Fort Worth. The zoo also features an archery range, boating rentals, bike rentals, and horseback riding. There are many things for children to do at the zoo, which makes it a great destination for families as well as children of all ages.

In keeping with the natural wildlife of the area, one of the main activities in Fort Worth is captive breeding of rare animals. In the past, many exotic animals have been bred in zoos, only to be put up for sale or have their habitat destroyed. However, with the efforts of some dedicated individuals, some rare species are being reintroduced to their native habitats. Captive breeding is an effective way to insure the survival of these species. This is especially important with species such as the American Black Bear. If this bear were to become extinct, it would be devastating for the remaining population of bears in the area.

A popular attraction at the fort worth zoo is the Wild Kingdom. This interactive theme park offers a variety of rides and exhibits for guests of all ages. The animals in the zoo include numerous types of animals, reptiles, and birds. In addition to the rides, there are exhibits that allow visitors to interact with some of the exotic animals, including the stingray. Other animals offered for interaction at the zoo include a large variety of fish, four-legged mammals, and turtles. Many of the creatures can also be personalized through tattooing.

The Fort Worth Zoo also has an exhibit in its nursery that offers information about the native animals of Texas. Among the animals included are the black bear, sloth bear, coyote, fox, fisher cat, spotted deer, bobcat, porcupine, and jaguar. These animals can be viewed in their natural habitat as well as in controlled settings at the zoo. This exhibit is a great way for children to learn more about native wildlife of Texas.
